Dr. Aomawa Shields has a PhD in astronomy and Astrobiology from the University of Washington, an MFA in playacting from UCLA, and a Bachelors degree in Earth, Atmospheric, and wandering Sciences from MIT.\n\nShe is currently an NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellow, a UC Presidents Postdoctoral schedule Fellow, and a 2015 TED Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.\n\nDr. Shields founded Rising Stargirls, an institution that teaches astronomy to young girls of wring using non-conventional methods such as theater, writing, and visual art.
